Herbal masks for dry skin should be nourishing, fatty, and capable of retaining moisture in the dermis—plant oils, sour cream, cream, ground nuts, cottage cheese, egg yolk, and even butter. Honey is often recommended, but it is pure sugar with a sprinkle of vitamins, and the staphylococcus that lives in our pores and creates a lot of problems with any skin type feeds on this sugar and flourishes.
Dry skin loves linden, nettle, mint, jasmine, roses, yarrow, chamomile, coltsfoot, and hops. These plants are rich in vitamin C and active essential oils.
Oily herb mask for dry skin. This is a basic recipe; you can change the herbs to your liking and feelings: mix a tablespoon of dry herbs with a teaspoon of warm vegetable oil (grape seed, peach, jojoba, wheat germ), and let steep for a couple of hours. Apply to the skin for 20 minutes and remove with a napkin. Such procedures are best done before bed so you don’t have to worry about a greasy shine and allow your skin to recover overnight.
Fermented milk mask for dry skin. Steep a tablespoon of ground herbs in a tablespoon of boiling water. Squeeze the infusion and wipe it on the skin. Mix the steeped herbs with cottage cheese or sour cream, apply to the face for 20 minutes, and rinse with warm water. Try a scrub with bran and fiber using sour cream.
Nut mask for dry skin. Grind a handful of walnuts or pine nuts into powder and mix with vegetable oil and linden flowers.
Milk mask for dry skin. Steep the ground herbs in hot milk and apply the warm residue to the face.
