When I started growing herbs myself, I was able to prepare herbal masks for oily skin from my own raw materials. I have oily skin with an allergy to cold, which manifests as peeling irritation in the nasolabial triangle, so taking care of my skin in winter is very difficult, just like for all women with combination skin. However, I achieved certain results through trial and error, and I will share them, firstly.
Herbal Masks for Oily Skin
I will start with the simplest, specifically with grape seed oil. After evening cleansing, 30 minutes before going to bed, massage your face with a few drops of oil. If there are traces of oil left on your face after 10-15 minutes, gently wipe them off with a napkin or your palms—your hands can benefit from the nourishment too. Grape seed oil tightens pores, doesn’t leave a greasy shine, visibly smooths out fine wrinkles, and treats acne. This oil has become the ideal skincare for me during winter. It also has a positive effect on the complexion))). After cleansing with salt , I use wheat germ oil once a week, which is a bit thicker and richer. I noticed that these oils accelerate eyelash growth.
Mask for problem skin with green tea. Grind a tablespoon of green tea and steep it with a tablespoon of water. After a couple of minutes, strain the liquid and wipe your face with it, while mixing a teaspoon of low-fat yogurt into the remaining paste to apply directly to the face or on gauze. Remove after 15-20 minutes. This mask dries out inflamed areas and at the same time cares for healthy areas of the skin.
Oatmeal mask. Mix ground oatmeal with ground marigold and hot water, you can add a drop of tea tree oil. This mask provides a light peeling effect, mattifies the skin, and treats inflammation due to the marigold. I recommend the pleasant honey scrub with bran .
Assorted mask. Chamomile, linden, mint, and sage are poured with boiling water and allowed to cool. Strain the herbs and blend them—your mask is ready.
Mint mask. For three tablespoons of mint, use half a glass of hot water. After 20 minutes, strain the herb and add a heaping teaspoon of starch.
If you need to lighten your skin a bit, add lemon juice or hydrogen peroxide. Kefir, sour cream, and cottage cheese gradually whiten the skin. Aloe, marigold, chamomile, wormwood, and plantain heal pimples and reduce inflammation. Green tea mattifies the skin due to tannins, tightening pores. Once every two weeks, you can use cosmetic clay mixed with yogurt.
The main thing is to choose 2-3 suitable herbs and bases for yourself and make it a rule to perform healing procedures at least once a week.
In the next post, I will write about several tested masks for dry skin.
