New Section 'Garden from Scratch'

The first entry on this site dates back to March 2013. Over the past 4 years, my windowsill garden has experienced growth and neglect, biological and cultural evolution, artificial and natural selection. Now it’s time for me to prepare for the next step—my own garden.

At this stage, the garden is just a goal, one that requires a long journey to achieve. I’d like to approach it wisely, with theory on my side. Therefore, I will be writing notes about gardening for beginners, hoping that the collected material will be useful not only to me.

Garden from Scratch Beds that inspire

There is a real reason to shift focus from the windowsill garden—a significant change in my life: my parents have inherited an abandoned plot, which they decided to develop with minimal knowledge of land care. The challenge is compounded by the state of the future garden—it’s practically untouched, with a wild raspberry patch, old fruit trees that need removal, and weeds as tall as a person.

Gardening for Beginners Step by step, everything is possible

I can only help my parents with advice, as we are separated by hundreds of kilometers, so I’ll be gathering and filtering material on the internet. I have the time and some experience in this area. Now, I can answer my parents’ gardening questions with links to relevant articles. The work ahead is already mapped out—clearing the land, stump removal, a cheap fence, compost, ants…

I’m not giving up on the windowsill garden topic. If anything noteworthy comes up, I’ll share it with you.
