Preparing Tomatoes for Wintering on the Windowsill

Tomatoes on the balcony turned out to be quite a successful venture. But the time for autumn chills has come, and it’s time to relocate the bushes closer to the warm bright windowsills. First, I repotted the Balcony Gold bushes into different pots - the root system turned out to be very compact; it even seems that two bushes were comfortable in one-liter pots.

The cherry tomato grew so much that I had to tie it up. So, I decided to trim the stem and try to root the cuttings in water. It didn’t work. However, the almost bare Balcony Gold bushes released several buds and set fruit just two weeks after repotting. In my opinion, tomato bushes are quite decorative, especially when the fruits ripen.

Judging by the robust, fleshy leaves and their bright emerald hue, the tomatoes have enough light and are comfortable after transplanting. In the axils of the dead branches, the suckers are slowly growing. I dare to hope that the trunk will not remain bare.
