I came across wonderful mixed plant arrangements in pots and wondered, is it possible to gather several spicy herbs in one container?
Most herbs require similar care. For instance, Mediterranean herbs like rosemary, lavender, thyme, and oregano love bright spots, moderate watering, aren’t picky about soil composition, and require good drainage. Based on the origin of plants, you can create amazing compositions.
In my opinion, plants should feel more comfortable in a mix compared to being cramped in small pots, and caring for them becomes simpler.
I recommend several options for spicy herb mixes:
- Lemon balm, mint, chamomile. Mint and lemon balm need to be trimmed to prevent them from shading each other and other plants. They like daily watering and misting, along with good drainage.
- Rosemary , thyme , lavender . They grow at roughly the same pace, require moderate watering, and prefer a sunny spot on your windowsill.
- Several varieties of thyme - common (Bogorodskaya grass), Pennyroyal, Cinderella, Lemon thyme.
- Oregano , thyme, rosemary. Perfectly complementing spices that will feel comfortable in the same container.
For placing plants, you can use a plastic tub with drainage holes. Containers should be wide and at least 15 cm deep. Wooden boxes need to be lined with thick plastic film and placed on a tray. Of course, you can buy pots specifically designed for arrangements and plastic boxes of any size and design, or you can use recycled materials. :)
I prefer growing perennial plants, but you can also create arrangements with parsley, dill, cress-salad , and other salads, coriander , or fenugreek .
