Tarragon is unjustly overshadowed by other more popular herbs in cosmetology. However, thanks to its rich chemical composition , tarragon is perfect for caring for aging skin.
Until I was 25, I did not pay attention to the skin on my neck, as I was concerned about my oily facial skin, which caused many problems. Without the proper hydration and nourishment, the skin on my neck began to lose elasticity, and moreover, women in my family tend to develop a “goose neck” as they age, which had already begun to show on me. Compresses with tarragon decoction proved to be quite effective - luckily, tarragon grows in my garden like a weed.
Tarragon for the Neck
Make a contrasting compress from an herbal decoction: brew a spoonful each of parsley and tarragon, strain, and cool well. Warm your favorite cosmetic oil and soak a piece of gauze or cloth in it, applying it to your chin and neck for one to two minutes. Then, replace the cooled cloth with one soaked in the decoction. Repeat this procedure 5 times. It is recommended to use a cream after the procedure, but I didn’t feel the need for it, as my skin absorbed the decoction and oil abundantly.
Ice from Herbal Decoction
I recommend wiping your face and neck with ice made from tarragon decoction in the mornings. This procedure tones the skin and rejuvenates it; however, it is not ideal for very dry and sensitive skin, while for oily skin it tightens pores, dries out inflamed elements, and prevents the emergence of pimples (all tested on myself). In general, wash your face with cool water more often rather than hot water - warm and hot water reduces skin elasticity and contributes to premature aging.
Tonic with Tarragon
Grate a cucumber on a fine grater and strain the juice through gauze. Brew a tablespoon of tarragon and let it steep - you can leave the herb in the decoction. Mix cucumber juice with tarragon decoction and store the mixture in the refrigerator. This tonic is ideal for oily and acne-prone skin - it tightens pores, treats inflammation, mattifies, and hydrates.
Based on this tonic, you can create a bactericidal lotion - for half a glass of tarragon decoction, add the juice of one cucumber and 50 grams of alcohol or 70 grams of vodka. It is not necessary to keep it in the refrigerator.
Any non-fat cream or gel for oily and normal skin can be enriched with tarragon essential oil . For 30 grams of cream, use 4 drops of essential oil. The same applies to tonics and lotions - a few drops in the finished product will make it even more effective and beneficial, giving a wonderful natural aroma to any product.
Mask with Tarragon
- Mask for dry and normal skin - Mash 2 tablespoons of fresh tarragon leaves or steep a tablespoon of dried tarragon and mash it into a paste. Mix with a tablespoon of cottage cheese + one ampoule of vitamin A. Apply the paste to clean, possibly steamed, skin for 15 minutes and rinse, alternating cool water with warm.
- Mask for the neck and décolleté - 2 tablespoons of dried or 3 tablespoons of fresh crushed tarragon steeped with finely ground oatmeal (just under a glass). Add the white of one egg to the warm mixture and apply to the neck and décolleté (can also be applied to the face). Rinse after half an hour.
- Mask for dry skin with tarragon - mix a tablespoon of fresh tarragon paste with two teaspoons of honey. Rinse after 20 minutes and apply a moisturizing cream.
- Mask for dry skin with butter and tarragon - mix a tablespoon of softened butter + a tablespoon of crushed fresh tarragon. Remove from the face with a cotton pad after 20 minutes and rinse off any residue with warm water. This mask is very pleasant for extremely dry skin.
Hair Strengthening with Tarragon
Brew a packet of colorless henna with boiling tarragon decoction, let it cool to a tolerable temperature, add 3 drops of tarragon essential oil or any other oil you like, and apply to the scalp, distributing through the hair. Keep the mask under a cap for at least an hour; you can even sleep with it on. Rinse with warm water without shampoo.
Ointment with Tarragon for All Occasions
Mix 100 grams of good butter with 2 tablespoons of crushed fresh or dried tarragon, simmer this mixture in a water bath, stirring constantly for several minutes, let it steep and cool, and add a teaspoon of honey. Store in the refrigerator and use for dry eczema, dermatitis, irritations, burns, and can be applied to cuts and healing pimples. Tarragon is also used in medicine , and you can grow it in a pot on your windowsill.
